This rare, and regal necklace is French in origin and dates to the end of the 18th Century, making it Georgian.  Crafted in Solid Sterling Silver with the most beautiful old cut paste stones, it features a Saint Esprit dropper which was a popular symbol in France in the 18th Centrury, depicting a bow (which has romantic references) and a peace dove carrying an olive branch to represent the holy spirit - 'Saint Esprit' translates into English as as 'Holy Spirit'
  
Each link displays the most incredible workmanship, which has stood the test of time and remains in exquisite condition. Even the old cut paste clasp is still in tact. 

The necklace weighs 28.14g and measures 15 inches around the neck. 

Paste was a special type of special cut glass which emulated a variety of gemstones; in this case diamonds.  If you look at the video, you'll see just how the paste stones shimmer and sparkle, making it difficult to tell that they are not diamonds.

These necklaces dont appear very often. If you have a look around today, you will find many of the Dove droppers for sale on their own, re-made into either brooches or pendants and having been removed from their original necklaces.   This necklace therefore, in its entirety and complete with its original necklace is wonderfully rare and a very special find.
